Santorini, part 2

I just couldn't stop taking photos of the postcard perfect views in Santorini, so you will have to scroll through quickly if you're tired of gorgeous Greek village scenes!
Everyone else is also snapping a photo here. As I see now, those Greek Orthodox Church domes are pretty nearly the exact color of the sky...
I can't decide which is my favorite view...
I was pleased to realize that we would be in Santorini on May 1, May Day, of course, since we had been in another Greek village on that same day so many years ago. I found the tradition of placing flower wreaths over doors very charming. Must remember to do that at home.
I was pretty excited to see my first May Day wreath over a shop door! While it is beautiful, it looks a little too perfect. I prefer the hand made ones from wildflowers growing nearby, and even imagined making my own, but just didn't feel ok about picking flowers.

I went in the very beautiful and high end jewelry store to chat with the proprietor and he gave me an earful about all that he thought was wrong with Santorini( greed, mostly). They will get around 68 cruise ships arriving this spring! That's a lot of tourist dollars, at 4€ per frappe.
Even so, I was captivated by the charming vignettes. People obviously take great pride in keeping this place beautiful.

This path goes down, down, down to a lovely viewpoint , that is certainly the perfect spot to watch the sunset.
Cruising for 10 days in the sunshine has left us quite happy and relaxed.
Quite the backdrop, eh? Even a little windmill.
On the way back, I spotted an ad for a local IPA. Jim was kind of willing to give it a try.
It was a very large, and expensive bottle! But tasty, for sure.
We had a nice conversation with a Norwegian man who has been to Santorini 16 times in 8 years! He said when the tourists leave at the end of the day it is a nice, quiet place...
I would happily stay there and gaze at the sea for several days.
He was enjoying a different view:
We say" looks like a bride, not a bride". You know when the stylists are hovering around, that she is a model, not a bride.
We caught the bus back to Fira for a nice long relaxing lunch. As we wandered about town I saw lots more wreaths.

This is more the wildflower style that I like.

Hmmm, is the same person making these?
I took the funicular back down the hill, while jim walked down the steps. He said it was good he did, because a fellow from our ship lost his footing and fell in front of him. Jim helped him to his feet, but they had to bring a donkey up to get him off the path.
We were happy with our visit to Santorini, and it was all that I had hoped for and more.
