Montenegro

Raise your hand if you know where Montenegro is. Anyone? I must admit that I could barely remember myself, though we had seen it on a map. So you don't have to go to your atlas, I will tell you that it is the little country south of Croatia. We really only decided to come here after hearing our son Matt mention going there. Jim read about it, and discovered that Kotor was worth a visit.
We arrived in Dubrovnik in the afternoon and picked up our rental car then headed south, collecting a couple more stamps in our  passports as we passed through two borders.
It was a spectacular drive right along the water most of the way there. I kept gasping at the views.
And people were actually swimming! How cold is that water?
It certainly is crystal clear.
We found our nice apartment overlooking the water( and a busy road) then went straight to find dinner in the old town. This is the view from Galeon restaurant where we were lucky enough to get a table overlooking this beautiful view.

The food wasn't bad either! Arugula salad with shaved Parmesan cheese.

That's a half portion of mussels, which they split for us, without our asking. No one has done that for a long time. Certainly not the Italians , who were probably appalled by our sharing of plates...
They brought these little longes to the table and the first time jim saw them, he thought they were mints. Luckily he didn't eat one, because they expand when wet and are actually hand towels. Whoa, that could have been an accident waiting to happen!
The view from our terrace
The next day there would be a succession of cruise ships right out in front there.
We were obviously in the " red room". The next night we were in the orange room!
Too many photos for one post, so I will do a two or three part post from Montenegro, my new favorite country.
