I had a couple more photos from Cortona that I enjoyed and wanted to share before we move on down the road.
This is such an Italian window display! I love the combination of colors, and the luscious buttery leathers. Very spring like, too. I could never imagine owning a yellow purse, but I think they are lovely. Gialllo ( yellow) is a very popular color in Italy! Shopping in Cortona is very fun and there are some great stores especially for paper goods, which I had wanted to see. Il Papiro is a chain, but very pricey! I quickly put back the € 13 handmade card.
Our first evening in Camucia we drove around in vain trying to find someplace open for dinner. Finally a woman in a bar said "Cortona ", so we drove up the hill, against Jim's will. We stopped at the first place we came to, and had a delicious, simple dinner of pasta with oil, breadcrumbs and a hint of anchovies.
This was an interesting and tasty salad of shaved artichokes and pecorino cheese with flatbread. We were happy to drive back to our lovely apartment, finding it easily along the straight road, much to our relief.
The next evening, after the ill fated pedicure, we went for a calming drink, whic was accompanied by these colorful chichetti, or appetizers. Each one was more delicious than the last one!
Now, we are finally on the road to Viterbo and points West.
We ended the day there after some great sightseeing earlier, whic I will do a separate blog post about.
